Re: SUN Concatenated file system as storage?

What is the difference between cooked devices and filesystem files? I've assumed that these were the same thing. We use raw space on all of our Informix IDS instances. We are just about to switch over from SUN disks to EMC. My unix admins are questioning the speed differences between raw and cooked on EMC with all of its cache etc. Is the difference as significant in the case of EMC? Dick Brieck "Art S. RAW disk devices tend to be from 15% to 35% faster than COOKED devices and from 25% to 50% faster than filesystem files. Art S. Kagel
