We've done several database conversions from 5.x to 7.23 in the last few months without much difficulty. The only 7.23 problem we've encountered thus far is with replication, the grouper module, -- which 7.3 will fix (hopefully). We converted from 5.x on sparc to 7.23 on ultra2.
