Informix 5.01 Corrupting the DataBase !!??

Hi I would like to know if anyone can shine some light on the following problem we are experiencing with Online 5.01. We had 3 triggers on most of our tables (Insert/Delete/Update) that take the key from the table and insert it into another table to be able to download all the changes in a text file to be transmitted to a remote site for updating of that data base. This is used for a fall back mechanism if the site goes down. We discovered that the trigger is slowing down the database considerably, so we tried to drop the triggers. The triggers on most tables dropped successfully except on one table. After trying to drop the triggers for some or other reason all the stats (DBAccess Table Information) vanishes and the table get extremely slow ... If we do a 'Update Statistics' the stats returns for a while and vanishes again a short while later. Could anyone give me some pointers or suggestions on how to fix this ...
