Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Reposting since I lost news access shortly after the first post ...
I recently got this error message in my log file when I was doing
some testing ...
23:28:43 WARNING! Physical Log size 1000 is too small. Physical Log overflows may occur during peak activity.
Physical Log size should be increased to '4800' to guard against
physical log overflows.
23:28:43 Onconfig parameter PHYSFILE modified from 6000 to 1000.
Can anyone tell me how Online calculates that a certain physical log
size is "too small"? What does it depend on? I would like to know
what was used to arrive at "4800".
Another question I have is why the physical log size should be any
bigger than the number of BUFFERS -- isn't the physical log just the
unmodified copy of what is in the page buffers before either a
checkpoint or the page buffer is otherwise written to disk?
