TBCHECKs

Recently I ran a tbcheck -pt against a table in our production database. I ended up aborting the job with a CTL-Z instead of CTL-C The process showed up when looking at ps-ef however it wasn't getting any time. Users began getting update errors against the table. I thought that the -P options did not lock the table but only displayed information, whereas the -C options would probably need a lock on the table to repair indexes if necessary. Also, does anyone have any quick and dirty tools to calculate extent sizes for tables. I wondered if there was anything out there where you could plug in number of rows, page sizes, indexes etc....and have it calculate the first/next extent size. This is for Informix 5.0 I've done calculations on 7.1 databases the long way but figured someone should have a tool out by now. Tks in advance..Ed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ed Bidinotto bidinott@ucar.edu
