Problems with oncheck in IDS 7.23

Hello everybody I'm running IDS 7.23 UC6, under AIX 4.2.1 We decided to do a complete oncheck of the database during the night. There is no other process running at the same time. We noticed that the checkpoint interval became extremely high during the oncheck activity, and we don't know why. Could this be a bug from Informix ?? Did anybody have the same problem ?? We had to change the script to start oncheck on the tables one by one. Instead of using "oncheck -cI <database>", we had to alter the script to "oncheck -cI <database>:<table1>;oncheck -cI <database>:<table2>;" and so on... If you do not have DBSPACETEMP set or it is set to regular dbspaces, rather than temp dbspaces, and you do not set PSORT_DBTEMP then the temp files and sort-work files that oncheck creates will be created in logged dbspaces which will cause greater activity at checkpoint time and may cause the physical log to fill which will force checkpoints more frequently. Try setting PSORT_DBTEMP to a list of AT LEAST 3 filesystems (NOT DBSPACES) so that all sort-work files are created in filesystem space and do not impact the engine. Art S. Kagel
