jdbc not connecting to same machine

Hi, I'm using Informix Online 5.x with JDBC 2.0 on Solaris. The problem is, with a valid jdbc url, it gives me error -908 connection failed IOException. I'm trying to connect to the Informix server that is on the SAME machine as my applications (and drivers). Is that a problem? Any help on this would be great! Salman Qureshi GTE Internetworking.
