The report is not processed in memory, so that's not a problem. If the report consistently can be sent to a file there should also not be a problem with temporary space (in the dbms or in the file system) for sorting (if you use order by, not order external by or no ordering). It may still be that you have this temporary space problem only sometimes. You should however get some kind of a runtime error message in this case. I haven't had it for so long that I don't remember that part for sure. You may however have a problem with enough space in your spool directory. The runtime system doesn't handle this very well, so it may look like the report is finished normally, but the spooler have crashed. You should however get an os error from this. Something about some device beeing full. Even if not it should be easy enough to check this while the report is running.
