Sorry, but I can't let this permissions 'solution' go without comment either... (1) No! The one group that no ordinary user should belong to is group informix. If users belong to group informix, they can access any of the database files (read *DESTROY*) without using the Informix tools. Under no circumstances whatsoever should any user other than informix belong to group informix. (2) This is a perfectly valid point, and one which wasn't mentioned previously by anyone else. Marks: 40% overall -- 50% correct, with 30% extra penalty points for the dangerousness of the wrong answer, and 20% extra bonus points for a good second answer.
