this isn't much help, but might spark some things off. i have little
experience with onarchive, but the one thing that i did notice was that it
took a long time, and there was a lot of tape activity, to back up my logical
logs. ontape backs up a log in seconds when it is full, but onarchive was
taking minutes, with all kinds of activity.
i think that onarchive puts a lot more info out there on tape, but
that is just a guess. it might do things differently and more involved
when it finds out that a page has changed as well.
coming from the VMS world, who the hell knows...
any comments, thoughts, informix input?
