What is the script to run to reset ownership and execute permissions under $INFORMIXDIR? Is it just 'brand'? Bob Roussey Unix / Informix Administration Spirit Airlines Robert.Roussey@SpiritAir.com

No: brand is an executable, not a script, and it records the licence number into the executable. There isn't a single script that just sets the permissions in the standard distribution. The install scripts found in $INFORMIXDIR/etc are the nearest approach, and they tend to want a serial number and key. However, if you poke around utils_jl in the IIUG Software Archive (http://www.iiug.org/software), you will find ixchkperm and ixsetperm scripts which check your permissions against $INFORMIXDIR/*files and which generates a script to correct the permissions to match those in the $INFORMIXDIR/*files. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2007.0226 -- http://dbi.perl.org/ NB: Please do not use this email for correspondence. Hi, no, not "brand". In older versions you can run "installserver" or if you have it the "RUN_AS_ROOT.server" script. In newer versions (10.00) things are not as easy anymore thanks to the installer. Alternatively you can check the file "IDSfiles" (or "IIFfiles" or "IDS2000files" or similar variation) in $INFORMIXDIR/etc. It contains the necessary info (user, group, access rights) for each file.
