Dr, You are using the network to communicate with the server. The service in the sqlhosts file is not define in the /etc/service file. If you are using NIS, ask your system administrator to create a NIS service entry for you. The NIS one will overwrite the local one. By the way, if you are running on NT, give the port number instead of the service name. Good luck.
