Hello A potential customer of mine is running Informix and I want to approach them with a proposal to develop software for them which would connect to their Informix DB using JDBC. I understand that the JDBC client and server ships with Informix and a trial version is available to download on the IBM website. My question is whether this situation is covered by the potential customers license, whether I would need to buy a license from IBM for the JDBC driver or whether the IBM informix JDBC driver is freely distributable. Thanks in advance Stevie

The Informix Software Development Kit (iSDK) and the Informix Connect (iConnect) product are both free and downloadable and you only have to pay for support if you want it. The SDK supports development for Informix in ESQL/C, C++, ODBC & JDBC the Connect is the runtime needed to install apps developed with the SDK and includes a generic ODBC client. Art S. Kagel
