The product contains fixes to problems that arose in the past as well as new features. There are likely to be unforeseen problems with the new features. That is why if your goal is stability you are well advised to stay away from that "bleeding edge." The 7.x family of products is at its best in the 7.2 release, having been proven and improved many times. I've reflected often on the attitudes and expectations of users, and how the marketing department's promises build a desire that is just short of achievable. We want so much to run just a little more, a little bigger, and we sacrifice stability and safety to this dream. Stability is a philosophy. It is a way of installing, coding and setting expectations and priorities. This philosophy is more than a Luddite resistance to change. It can embrace the best of the new technology, requiring only a realistic understanding of where the limits really are. ______________________________________________________ Clem Akins (aka clema@informix.com) Informix Software, Inc (Standard disclaimers apply) International Technical Support Last seen: Thinking of weekend getaways in New Zealand
