Re: updating informix

I've run into a bug with menu processing in 4.1, but I don't know if it was also in 4.0. Our environment is SunOS 4.1, c4gl 4.10.UC1. The problem is that selecting a menu command by pressing the first letter of the command name does not cause the command discription to display until AFTER the command is exited. Suppose you have the following program: main define char8 char(8) menu "Main" command "A" "Command A description" display "A" at 12, 40 prompt "A? " for char8 command "B" "Command B description" display "B" at 12, 40 prompt "B? " for char8 command "E" "Exit" exit menu end menu end main When you start the program, you see: Main: A B E Command A description at the top of the screen. If you press "B" to select the second command, the program will display "B" in the middle of the screen, and prompt for input with "B? " on the top line. However, the command "B" description does not replace the "A" description on the second line: B? Command A description When you answer the prompt and press RETURN, "Command B description" is displayed on the second line. This problem does not show up if you select commands by spacing or "arrowing" over to the desired command and pressing RETURN. Also, it is masked it you have a MESSAGE statement in the command that gives help, etc. A work-around is to place a MESSAGE statement at the beginning of each command that duplicates the command description from the COMMAND statement for that command section. Since 5.0 is out for our platform, I'm going to see if it's fixed there before I commit to all of that busy-work.
