NOTE: Hopefully, this is being posted to comp.sys.hp.hpux and
comp.databases.informix
I have several HP servers running HP-UX 9.04 and Informix
Online 5.04 and associated I-STAR, I-4GL, and I-SQL products.
One of these HP's is a 9000/H50. We are thinking of replacing it
with a K-200 (2 processor) box. The K200 will come with 10.01 installed.
My database on the H50 is 12GB, mirrored using Mirror-UX. So I have
a volume group that is 24GB of raw disk. Can I do a vgexport on the
H50, (physically) relocate the disks, then do a vgimport on the K200?
Anyone know if this is "supported"??? (I've been through a vgexport/import
when moving disks onto a different scsi controller...;just not onto
different versions of the OS!)
Would it make sense to go to Online 7.1 at this time?
I've got lots more questions, so if anyone has been through something
like this, I'd like to correspond via e-mail, and then summarize for the
groups or individuals interested.
Thanks so much.
Katy
