Re: unable to attach to shared memory

Hi,
a) Make sure that you have SHMBASE in your $ONCONFIG file
set correctly. For a 64-bit IDS it looks a bit short to me (in fact
it looks like inherited from a 32-bit system).
Check the Machine Specific Notes for the recommended
setting.
b) Make sure you run the failing commands in the same
environment where you have started "oninit", especially
that you use the same $ONCONFIG file and
$INFORMIXSERVER.
c) Next look at the output of "ipcs -m".
Try to use system utility "truss" (see man page) and run
the failing command with truss. You will see the shmat()
system call in the truss output. From there try to figure
out, which shmat() call goes wrong, i.e. to which SHM
segment the failing shmat() is trying to attach.
Also watch the other parameters of shmat() and try to
figure out if they are sensible (or not).
Aehm, I think this is the easiest way to analyze this.
If you're not comfortable with this you may want to open
a case with IBM Informix Tech Support.
You can also send relevant parts of the truss output for
us to look at. In that case I'll give it a try ...
Regards,
Martin
