Hi! I am currently doining a port from an HP9000 (running hp-ux) and informix 7.14 ud1 to a linux box also running informix (7.30 I think!). However , on the HP9000 there is a library called netlib.a . This library does not appear to exist in the version of informix that I have on my linux box, and as it is used a great deal for the old processes on the HP I need it! . Where is this file - or has it been renamed ? Help me informix user group - you're my only hope :)

The best thing to do is change your makefiles and compile scripts to use esql to link instead of trying to use ld. If you insist on using ld to link run: esql -libs which will display the list of required -l<lib> flags needed by ld. Be aware that this list WILL change from ESQL version to version it ALWAYS does. Informix has never had any compunction against changing the list of libraries or the order in which they need to be linked not with moving functions from library to library. The ONLY way to create a makefile that will never have to be changed (except perhaps to take advantage of some new feature or add a new module ;-)) is to use esql to link. Art S. Kagel
