Re: Running IDS 10 32 bits on 64 bits
Posted in 2014
Hi,
we have been doing this for many years, with slightly different environment.
(running IDS 11.10UCx on Debian 64bit)
The only thing was to install the ia32 libs and copy some other libs from the
32bit distri (libaio, and some others,
I remember dbaccess was missing a lib).
The benefit in comparison to a 32bit OS is that you can allocate more shared
memory because the 64bit OS
puts the shared libs in a very high memory region.
The instance ran pretty normal in daily business. Not sure which side effects
could be there for IDS 10.00.
Also, we ran the old version of Debian (5.x), having problems with newer
versions, only kernel was upgraded
to support newer hardware. We ran into problems when upgrading an instance
running on a newer system
(some incompatibilities of libs). -> running the instance was ok, only
inplace-upgrade did fail.
So generally this should work, but do not expect any support .... (old IDS
version, running on newer OS).
