Re: Replication on INFORMIX ?

The planning, setup and implementation of a successful ER site is not a trivial matter. At the last one I was involved in the entire DBA team attended a customized ER class and still hired an Informix senior consultant for three months. The only way I can see you having some kind of stable ER scenario by Xmas is for you to hire an experienced consultant. The 7.23 release has many fixes to the ER feature, and there is a host of new capability (sporadic connections, floating threads, etc) coming in 7.3 to support ER. Be sure to use the very latest product you can for this challenging assignment. Though you no longer have the time to take the ER class, you may be able to work out something with your Informix office to get a copy of the training manual. (Normally that means paying for the entire class, but you may be able to arrange to take the class later.) HDR, on the other hand, is easy and simple to implement given just the directions in TFM. For quickly ensuring that all data from one site is available read-only at a second, identical site that is the way to go. (I understand that that is not your goal, though.) If a consultant is not an option, then you can post very detailed yet concise problem descriptions to the comp.databases.informix list in the hope that the people there can help you. (More detail than you had below.) Good luck, Bharat writes: >Thankz anyway for u'r reference .... I think Replication Enterprice is the >answer ...
