Hi all,
Currently our database is on Veritas RAID5, we experience I/O
problem slow on this RAID5 (many users from this group also recommended
go for RAID10). So we are going to switch our database to hard RAID10
(thanks all those who have help me before). Anyway, I never done this
kind of database move before, if you have any suggestion please let me
know. If is possible can you give me step by step to do it, I would
appreciated.
Here is my two plans and don't know which one is the best choices:
Choice 1:
a) Do full backup using ontape and onbar
b) On the new controller RAID10 partition all dbspace/chucks same size
as original.
c) Unlink dbspace from old disk and relink all dbspace to new disk
space.
d) Cold restored from the backup tape
Choice 2:
a) Do full backup in case need it to restore.
b) I don't with tool is the best to used "onload or dbexport".
using onunload or dbexport to load all databases to tape
Can you some give me example of parameter I should be use.
c) Created all new dbspace/chucks (rootdbs, datadbs, tempdbs
llogbds.....etc).
d) "oninit -i" to created new instance on new controller.
c) Import the data back.
using "onload" or "dbimport"
Please give me example of parameter.
Well, I guess this be it for the questions. If you have any comments or
suggestions I would be very appreciated. Thank you all in adavance.

Possible but I'd go for choice 2. Also unloading your data will ensure
a) It can also be read
b) That a large area of the new disk can be written too
c) Will reduce extent fragmentation.
