User Threads

Does anybody know much about the number of concurrent user threads variable in the /usr/informix/etc/onconfig.std file? We're running an application, and receiving the message "You have exceeded the maximum number of user threads" Can I just up the number of threads in the config file, or does this have something to do with concurrent licensed user? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
