Informix 6.0 esql/c problem

I noticed a problem with the Informix 6.0 esql/c client. It will hung forever when a remote host on which database server resides is powered off. I tried to send an alarm signal to the client, but it did not work. I think Informx is using SIGALRM internally and is overwritting my signal handler. Did anybody have a similar problem with Informix? How I can force the client to return from for example "connect", "rollback", "disconnect" or any other sql statement? The sqlbreakcallback is implemented in 7.1 and higher. Thanks in advance for answers and suggestions. irena bartkowska irena@bnr.ca
