Doesn't Informix relize the need for a local database as well as a remote one. In VisualBasic we use a local MS Access db and a remote Informix db in some applications. We will try this in NewEra also using ODBC. Although the MS Access engine has its share of problems, it works fine for us, and we can distribute runtimes royalty free!!!! With NewEra we seems to have to pay runtime fees even when the application does no access to remote databases. This will hold os back from using it although it now seems to be developing into a first rate product.
