Answer: This works - syntax for mt varies slightly as to platform: =================================== find . -name firstfile | cpio -ocvdum >/dev/rmt/0 mt -f /dev/rmt/0 offline sleep 30 #needs time to cycle find . -name secondfile | cpio -ocvdum >/dev/rmt/0 =================================== The files wind up on two separate tapes.
