I thought the HC versions were 32 bit tools (4GL, SDK...) which were capable of communicating with the shared-memory accessors into the engine. Especially for HP, any PA-RISC executable can run on the 64 bit machines. So a stand-alone 32 4GL can work no worries. However, if you want to use shared memory connectors, then the 32 bit model in the 4GL cannot understand the 64 bit model of a 64 bit engine. Hence the existence of the H (hybrid) tools. If you are happy to connect using streams or sockets, then you don't even have a problem with using a UC tool with a FC engine. Or something like that.
