Look in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sysmaster.sql for all the sysmaster stuff.

A kind soul round these parts mailed me the suggestion to use length(blobcol). It's so blindingly simple it's brilliant ;-) Perhaps that's why they didn't feel any need to put this info in sysmaster.
