Row Level Locking. Informix vs. Oracle

Recently I was in a discussion with an Oracle DBA and he stated the Oracle has row level locking, where Informix has page level locking. I went to Informix's web site and from what I can tell Informix ODS does row level locking. However, the Oracle DBA insists Informix does not have row level locking. Ok, could somebody please tell me who is correct, or am I misunderstanding the concept of row level locking. Thanks Peter
