Any need to put Informix in single-user mode?

Hi everyone. Another one of my infamous brain-dead questions. I have heard from some dbas that there is some unsubstantiated rumours of issues related to having a 7.31 IDS database online when simply adding a new raw chunk. I tend to doubt this is true. But as far as you know is there any reason whatsoever to put 7.31 IDS into single-user quiescent mode when adding a new raw chunk? Thanks
