Re: Trouble dropping tables
Posted in 1995
I have had this problem with SE several times.
Do as follows:
1. Find out the *filename* of the table that is missing.
Usually something like xxx_nnn where xxx is your tablename or part
of it, and nnn is a sequence number.
2. Use your operating system copy command to copy *any* other table
to this file name. Both the .dat and .idx files.
3. Make sure the premissions on the files are set so they can be removed.
chmod 777 filename works fine.
4. Now drop the table. It will now work, and all related indexes and whatever
gets droped as they should. Informix does not check on the structure of
the files when you do a drop table so you can use any file for the data
and index files.
Don't try anything but drop table though after this procedure :-)
Hope this helps.
