Only one tape for data and logs ? (OnBar)

Hi Informixers
I have an one server that has HPUX-10.20, IDS 7.30UC6 and unfortunately
only one tape drive.
I was going to use ISM+OnBar on the server, but after my experiments I
figured out with the
programs. Maybe somebody can explain me what's wrong with my ISM or
OnBar configurations.
Let's start. ;)
ONCONFIG

TAPEDEV /dev/rmt/0m # Tape device path
TAPEBLK 16 # Tape block size (Kbytes)
TAPESIZE 4000000 # Maximum amount of data to put on tape

# Log Archive Tape Device
LTAPEDEV /dev/rmt/0m # Log tape device path
LTAPEBLK 16 # Log tape block size (Kbytes)

Yeah. You're right. I'd like to keep a data and logs in one pool,
because it's very inconvenient
to change a tape three times when you make a data backup.
Documentation says nothing that I CANNOT use one pool for data and
logs.
Backup (onbar -b -L 0 ) was made successful without any problems and
logical logs was backup
without any problem. Everything looks well.
However I run into with a trouble when I start recovering from my nice
backup.

The question is what's wrong ? If there were wrong nothing how can I
keep the data and logs on one tape ?

Is your tape device rewind or non-rewind? If first, then your tape gets
rewound after each 'close file' call. And your logs are written right on top
of your just backed up data.
Take a look into your /dev, there must be links to /dev/rmt, something like
/dev/nStp0 (rewind) and /dev/nrStp0 (non-rewind).
Actually, this is a question I'd like to ask. I have 40 Gb tape drive and I'm
using similar approach. My tape layout looks like:
- time stamp, archive level, slot number, some additional info
- archive of all DB's (ontape -s -L 0)
- time stamp, log number used during back up, etc.
- logical logs archive (ontape -a)
I never restored the archive using these tapes and would like to know if
someone did. From Informix point of view it shouldn't be a problem - I mount
a tape, I skip certain amount of files, setting the tape to the beginning of
a file (DB or logs archive) and say: read this device.
Any comments everyone?
Thank you,
Alex.
