I started looking at it until I saw:
"Use Data Studio Developer to:
...Provide a seamless Eclipse-based SQL/Java experience"
...and I ran screaming from the room.
Having tried the much-touted (and it's all gone rather quiet on that
front now hasn't it?) 4gl-to-java converter addon for data studio I am
firmly of the opinion that there is NOTHING seamless about ANYTHING
eclipse-based, especially when you include SQL and java in the equation.
And anything that uses corporate buzzwords like 'experience' when it's
talking about a programming environment needs seriously to be redrafted.
IMHO.

4GL to Java Converter for DataStudio? Do you have a document/URL for that?
Thanks and regards,

Oh, EGL, even if works well, I am not going from the vendor lock in of 4GL to the vendor lock in of EGL / WebSphere.

You may get another idea: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/offers/techbriefings/details/rbdtws.html I've seen a customer give up on this but they had several issues: - They weren't prepared to move from an "in your face" 4GL to an "in app server" type of environemt - They wanted to continue development in 4GL and use EGL conversion as a "compile step" - They didn't understand that a developer workstation for a 3 tier environment requires a bit more resources than what is required to run a SSH client ;) Not saying it's perfect, but I think the adoption was lower than what it deserved. Of course that I understand that if people want to move away from 4GL they possibly want to go directly to Java and not to another "esoteric" language. -- Fernando Nunes Portugal http://informix-technology.blogspot.com My email works... but I don't check it frequently...
