Yip, this can turn into a very nasty debate. I am sitting with an old version of Informix (7.31), and my company bought Oracle 10G - and now they tend to compare these 2 versions with each other ...... sigh -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.org] On Behalf Of DA Morgan Sent: 13 September 2005 04:09 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Why Informix is Best Data Goob wrote: > It's easier to use than Oracle, smaller footprint, more flexible > configuration, > less overhead, simpler engine, less DBA intervention required. "Easier to use" than WHAT version of Oracle? This is the kind of fluff that is used for tinder in flame wars. I think Prateek's expectation is for substance. Prateek ... different transaction models, different locking models, different ways of using rollback, different object types, even different types of tables and indexes. Contact me off-line and I'll gladly point you to the differences that matter. Then you can make your own value judgements. -- Daniel A.
