RE: Infomix on SCO Unix

Dave If you have lost the root password, you can boot the machine using the = mini-root diskette (I have done it for Xenix boxes and I know it can be = done for bigger machines so it should be possible), then mount the = original root filesystem under the mini-root. I dont know if you need to shut off Informix on SCO, but I believe = Informix is stable enough to withstand 1-2 Unix shutdowns once in a = while without corruption. Of course, YMMV. To reset the password, delete the stuff between the first and second = colons (:) in the /etc/passwd file. You wont have a password for the = account anymore so you have to log in and manually change the password = with the passwd commnad. Can I just turn off the machine? Do I need an infomix password to shut down infomix first? Is syncing the disks enough? Is there a file that, as root, I can delete or edit to reset infomix passwords.
