Well, yes, that is the quite astonishing thing. From the accounts of all of the Informix developers, IBM *is* spending a fortune on developing IDS, yet IBM still cannot really bring itself to market or advertise it. Why bother to invest in it in that case??? I met a senior IBMer, country-based not Worldwide, about a week ago to discuss a general IBM software issue. In passing, and knowing that I am an Informix specialist, he said: I see that IBM didn't bother to publisicise the new release of Informix. Honestly! That's what he said. I said that by comparison with IDS v10 it was HUGELY publicised. He countered that by comparison with Viper (DB2) it wasn't even mentioned (cue all the untrue bollocks from IBMers that IBM doesn't advertise and promote products - be sure that it does!!!). And he's right. We Informix advocates should keep in mind that, although IBM is publicising informix much more than it ever it has, in the scale of things, (particularly DB2 things) it's absolute peanuts.
