Informix won't tell you this (and incur the wrath of every other vendor), but their "core" platforms are IBM, HP, Sequent and SUN. New versions come out on these first. The other vendors' versions come out 3 to 6 months later. If you want the latest versions, pick one of these. We use Pyramid Technology's large boxes for multi-gigabyte databases. They do a good job, but we would like the parallel features in 6.0 and 7.0. They will come out first on Sequent. Everyone else has to wait six months. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Burks jburks@promus.com The Promus Companies Memphis, Tennessee, USA
