We have a unique restore requirement for which the one iam attempting to perform will help us. We have the tape backups for our informix database taken from the DLT tape library using Veritas Netbackup datacenter and the Netbackup Informix database agent. We need to restore this data in our SBX which resides in a remote location where it doesnt have automated tape library and high speed network connection at the moment. Though we are familiar with Alternate client restore, we need to perform this particular restore not over the network since our network infrastructure at PLANT location is still not upgraded to the same like our PRD location. All we have is the single DLT 7000 tape drive in PLANT which is configured in Netbackup to utilize for restore. Another limitation is our database backup spanned across 3 tapes and we have a single tape drive. We configured our Plant system to restore using the single tape drive so that the data transfer happens locally and is working fine. The only issue is that we have some dbspaces wrote on 1st tape and some on 2nd tape and some on 3rd tape. In other words, The original restore order might be like 4-5 dbspaces in the first tape, next one in the second tape, next one in the first tape again and so on. Since it requires manual intervention of tape change and in order to restrict the number of times the tape change occurs manually, i tried to configure ixbar where i rearranged the dbspaces order in such a way that matches the tape sequences. But i made sure that it restored the critical dbspaces first followed by all other dbspaces in that tape before it moves on to the next tape. The thing is that it still restores the dbspaces in the original order when it was backed up. My queries are 1) Does the control to alter the sequence of dbspace restore exist elsewhere like in VERITAS as well apart from the IXBAR file ? 2) If so, is there a way to change the sequence in VERITAS ?
