Oracle's like a 63 Splitback Vette. Great performance, incredible control, but a bit bumpy ride and takes a while to master. Informix is a Hyndai with power windows. You can dress it up, but it still is trash. When working with Informix, I just LOVE when the manual states many of the SQL standard call are not implemented. It's also real fun when you find out the outer join logic just is plain WRONG! I got Informix support/engineering to admit this when we stepped through the logic of what it was returning, and they promised a fast fix, but then found out a bunch of customers were relying on the current behaviour, so they ignored it. I hope I'm never forced to work with it again.
