Version 2.x is a far leap beyond v1.x. V3.0 is now in beta and should be like any other x.0 product. A lot of functionality has been added to 3.0 such as OCX support and a lot of other cool stuff. The version I saw about a month ago was still lacking on the control side though. I don't have the current beta yet. > > distributed? > > > > - Does the Client side run on Win95? The developer-base is quite small right now. Our company has had to go outside of the US to find people with Informix and NewEra skills (GB mainly). If you can find people with windows dev experience and know 4gl, that's the mix you want. A little OO never hurt, but is not an absolute requirement. There are people out, but it will take some searching on your part. > > - Any other thoughts on why to (or not to) go with NewEra for GUI C/S > > development? > > The fundamental architecture of NE is very good. The NE backend pumps data out the engine extremely fast provided the code's not crap. The only issue I have is with the front end. You know, the end the user dinks with. One can build a cool app, but the controls to work with are the controls we used 5 years ago in windows programming. -Jason
