-408 Error Message in ESQL - for ANY database!

I hope someone can help me with this frustrating problem. I have just installed ESQL and have had a database up and running using only ISQL till now. I'm on SCO 3.2v4.2 and the ESQL version is 5.0. When I try to install the demo database using esqldemo5 or when I try to access an existing database using enbedded ESQL code in a C program I get the following error: -408 Invalid Message Type received from the sqlexec process. My hosts table has the following entry pic_se mecho-s sqlexec All my ISQL applications work fine. Thanks in advance, Kate
