HELP Informix Locks

Does anybody know why Informix-Online 5.0 consumes locks at an incredible rate when updating a table even though the following statement has been issued: LOCK TABLE test IN SHARE MODE The lock type generated as shown by tbstat -k is HDR. Thanks in advance Vil
