Can't you just do a level -0 archive overnight and just restore the
required dbspace(s)? Worst case you would lost a day's work.
Possibly consider a level 0 archive at lunchtime if you can get
everyone to log off for an hour and it will take less then an hour.
A pain but if you keep do it regularly the development staff would
get used to taking their lunch at the same time each day.
I did this with SE after someone scrogged our database. I would ask
everyone to log off and do a backup at 1pm each day. Amazingly the
development staff all adapted and the group "bonded" together as they
all went for lunch at the same time each day.
