I have a similar problem as the previous author. On the server machine I can connect via "localhost" (with nosoctcp) but if I put the machine name or IP in it doesn't work. Are you saying that my machine _must_ be DNS registered? GJ.
No, the IP address can be looked up from an entry in your etc/hosts file. Also remember that the engine has to be listening on the IP & port that you're trying to connect to. These being reflected in the third and fourth columns of the relevant entry in your sqlhosts file. jim gerd@bibliotech.net wrote: > "Hal Maner" <hmaner@msystemsintl.com> writes: > > You do not store IP addresses anywhere in the Informix configuration. > > Informix relies on TCP/IP name resolution... > > I have a similar problem as the previous author. > On the server machine I can connect via "localhost" (with nosoctcp) but > if I put the machine name or IP in it doesn't work. > > Are you saying that my machine _must_ be DNS registered? > > GJ.
