Onbar hanging via NetBackup (Veritas)
Posted in 1998
Informix: 7.30.uc2
Hardware: HP 9000/800
OS: HP-UX 10.20
Storage Mgr: NetBackup (Veritas) 3.1.1GA
Problem:
When I execute a backup from Netbackup, it mounts the tape and backups
up my $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory, then it dismounts the tape, and issues
the "onbar -b -w -L 0" command. The job then just seems to hang and no
tape is mounted.
The bar_act.log shows the backup starting as does the online.log. I
have configured the Master bp.conf and the $INFORMIXDIR/bp.conf files.
I have updated the variables in the script file
/usr/openv/netbackup/ext/db_ext/informix/scripts/dw_onbar_whole_backup.
The bar_version table has been updated with the vendor supplied fields.
I am not sure what the onconfig variable "BAR_BSALIB_PATH" should be.
It is currently set to $INFORMIXDIR/lib/libbsa.sl. I have found no
reference to this variable in the NetBackup Informix manual. I have
tried not setting the variable and got the same results with a warning
message that the default was being used.
Please note Onbar was working with ISM prior to the install of
NetBackup.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated!
