4gl form field attributes

Hi, I am a new 4gl programmer and am having a bit of an annoying problem. On a 4gl form my attributes like reverse, or underline etc. don't seem to be taking effect until a cursor actually passes trought the field. In ISQL the attributes take place as soon as the form is displayed. Is there a way in which the attributes can be foreced to take effect upon the display of the form? Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks for the help.
