Options are just what has been mentioned here: various flavors of viewers, including those in the public domain or available without change and an emphasis on full-text retrieval. Someone mentioned the OnLine Administrator's Guide. That was a great product several years ago that did depend on the Frame Viewer. When NewEra is ultimately released it will be clear that a significant portion of the documentation is available on-line through the Microsoft Help system. This achieves some of the things mentioned in this discussion group: hypertext links, immediate access, etc. Putting our doc. out through the WWW is an interesting idea, but it obviously wouldn't solve everyone's online documentation needs. Finally, I might mention that even though doc. is distributed on CDROM, for speed purposes you'll probably want to load it onto your hard disk or a high speed server in a networking environment. Your comments and suggestions are of great interest to us and will be factored into our discussions regarding short, mid- and long-term solutions to the problems of presenting our customers with the most effective documentation solution. -- todd katz todd@informix.com
