Replication starting problem
Posted in 1996
Hi
Can someone help me with this?
I'm trying to start DR in the following configuration:
two HP 9000 800/I60 boxes with HP-UX 10.10
OnLine DS 7.13.UC2
rootdbs - chunk size 954000 - path /dev/first_raw
logdbs - chunk size 408000 - path /dev/log_raw
seconddbs - chunk size 954000 - path /dev/second_raw
Physical Log and 30 Logical Logs are all in logdbs
Here are message logs on primary and secondary after
onmode -d secondary first_online
primary
...
DR: Cannot connect to secondary server
DR: Turned off on primary server
secondary
...
DR: new type = secondary, primary server name = first_online
DR: Trying to connect to primary server ...
And then there is nothing else on secondary!
Secondary never shows read-only state, never shows
DR: Secondary server connected
....
I think that all preliminary procedures that desired to
start DR already done correctly.
On the primary:
Level 0 archive creation (onarchive)
onmode -d primary second_onlinewith corresponding messages in message log:
DR: new type = primary, secondary server name = second_online
DR: Trying to connect to secondary server ...
DR: Cannot connect to secondary server
DR: Turned off on primary server
Then on the secondary:
ondatartr>retrieve/dbspaceset=*/tape=(/dev/rmt/0m)
with corresponding messages:
The file rootdbs has been retrieved.
The file logdbs has been retrieved.
The file seconddbs has been retrieved.
...
I tried to do some experiments on one box.
DR with only rootdbs is working correctly.
Note that the time between "connected" and "operational"
messages is about 20 minutes.
12:38:47 DR: Secondary server connected
...
12:59:58 DR: Secondary server operational
Is this normal (if rootdbs is about 2Gb)?
Is the problem in connection between boxes?
In $INFORMIXDIR/.rhosts I wrote '+' on both boxes
and all have rw-rw-rw- permissions. And I (informix) can
do rlogin to other box without any problem (or password)
on both boxes.
Another experiment with DR on one box with 3 (but small)
dbspaces and logs in logdbs also working correctly.
And now I don't know what to do.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!
