I suppose you are not connecting with a specified password (as in
dbaccess connect), but rather using standard 'rcmd' informix authentication.
So, you should have a .rhosts file in your root home
directory with the names of hosts from which you are trying to connect
in it. Well, if this is from the local host - it could be a bug, but
try adding the localhost entry into your .rhosts file. And check that
this file is readable only by root.
