Q: Upgrade from I-Net PC 4.1 to I-Net for Windows 5.01 on Win95

I started investigating a possibility to run Informix 4GL for windows on Windows 95 with local SE engine, (maybe you have seen the tread about this) but have found that the real problem is in upgrading from I-Net 4.1 PC to I-Net 5.01 for Windows. 4GL for Windows is working with I-Net 4.1 to OL. Ilogin demo is working with I-Net 5.01 to OL. 4GL is NOT working with I-Net 5.01, ant that is the problem. Informix Net for Windows configuration guide (5.01) on page 18 explicitly confirm comppatibility with 4GL for Windows, and on page 19 describes DLL's used: The following list describes the software modules illustrated in Figure 1-3: FGLSQL.DLL is the module that allows INFORMIX-4GL for Windows Version 4.11 applications to communicate with an Informix database server located across a network. LDLLSQLW.DLL is the module that allows Windows applications based on the following products to communicate with an Informix database server located across a network: INFORMIX-ESQL/C for DOS Version 4.1,INFORMIX-HyperScript Tools Version 1.0,INFORMIX-ViewPoint Version 1.0, and INFORMIX-DBA Version 1.0.When you install INFORMIX-NET for Windows, the Version 5.01 LDLLSQLW.DLL file replaces the Version 4.1 LDLLSQLW.DLL file. See "Resolving Conflicts Among .DLL Files" on page 4-3 for details. In file \\etc\\intfile: ldllsqlw.dll ESQL/C 4.1 to 5.01 support DLL fglsqlww.dll 4GL version 4.1 support DLL (dummy) In fact, file name is fglsqlw.dll, with only one "w", and this is really a plain text file, not a DLL, with only one word in it, and that is "dummy". In NOTEINET.501 I have found this : 4.10 INET PC ---------------- Application -> LDLLSQLW.DLL -> REMSQL.EXE (TSR) -> Network Driver (TSR) 5.01 INET for Windows --------------------------- Application -> ISQLI501.dll -> WINETMAN.DLL -> INETWSOK.DLL ->Vendor's WINSOCK.DLL -> Network Driver (TSR or DLL) Ant this is not the hole truth. 4.10 ------------------------------ 4GL for windows -->FGLSQL.DLL-->REMSQL.EXE-->NET DRIVER PEM -->PEMSQL.DLL-->REMSQL.EXE-->NET DRIVER I am shure 4GL and PEM is not using LDLLSQLW.DLL, because I have delete it, and they still work with I-Net 4.1 5.01 -------------------------- 4GL for windows ESQL/c4.1 ESQL/c5.01 | | | FGLSQL.DLL --> LDLLSQLW.DLL -->ISQLI501.DLL--> (Or fglsqlw.dll) --->WINETMAN.DLL-->INETIPX.DLL-->Novell driver, or -->INETWSOK.DLL-->WINSOK.DLL, or, -->inetwpip.dll-->sqlexec.exe It is obvious that if I can use I-Net 5.01 with 4GL (and manuals is explicit in this) I can use SE 6.0 Can somebody be so kind and look at there FGLSQL.DLL, FGLSQLW.DLL, PEMSQL.DLL,LDLLSQLW.DLL and record they version, date, time and size? Shoud I be triyng some other version of I-Net? FYI, 4GL for Windows, including PEM, is (suprisingly) very stable on w95, even with I-Net 4.1, so I realy think that this is worth investigating. I know 4GL on win looks like s*itt, but IMHO it look the same on any os.
