I agree with Fernando. Having worked inside the Informix support organization for a long time my experience is that the overwhelming majority of bugs are generic anyway. I am also convinced that Linux is a well supported and stable platform. I see no reason to choose Solaris only because Informix is developed there. As far as I know qa tests for the current development are run on a couple of platforms every night. Porting does not introduce new bugs in the first place. It often uncovers hidden generic bugs and makes a product more stable on all platforms.
